Today's inspiration..."Mirrors".
They can trick the eye, no doubt about it.
Think of Harry Potter in the Philosopher's stone...how fascinating was the Mirror of Erised?
"I show not your face but your heart's desire"...magical...
Do you think mirrors are magical objects when it comes to decorating?
What do you love/hate about them?
I love the fact that they can transform a room and reflect light into it...I like to think of them as the "decorator's secret weapon"! Somehow they always work!
It's a bit cold and cloudy in Sydney today. Winter is near...unfortunately...
I will try and enjoy the colder weather though...I appreciate that every season is unique and beautiful and it's needed to all of us.
Have a great Monday :))

Love all and any mirrors ~ the more the merrier. Old, new. Simple, ornate.
ReplyDeleteEspecially love your third image of the gold framed ones. But that dining/ study/ library type room is SO cosy and gorgeous.
Winter means tall leather boots and gorgeous coats, with roaring log fires and good shiraz ~ so I love the approaching season ~ so much to look forward to.
have a great week,
Virginia
I totally love the idea of a collection of vintage mirrors in the bathroom. Well, it doesn't have to be the bathroom, I suppose.
ReplyDeleteI have already started collecting them for when our new bathroom is ready! So far I have 7 :)
I love mirrors, especially groupings of them.

ReplyDeleteLoving them all.. especially the vintage bevels.. and the one in the poppytalk image... You know I saw a similar one to that large gold leaf in the 3rd at an antique shop in Noosa last year.. beautiful... one day!!!
Hope you had a lovely Mother's Day... and thanks so much for your kind sweet comments.. Have a great week.. ciao xxxx Julie
I've been on the look out for ages for some funky looking mirrors, I want one for the bedroom, guest room and hallway. I love the way a mirror can trick you into thinking its a window, but its just a reflection.
ReplyDeleteHI Claudia,
ReplyDeleteI love these images! Mirrors are fantastic and especially love the images you've shown where they are in sort of a collage. Enjoy the seasons....I miss the seasons of CT and NY way more than I thought I would. Have a wonderful week.

ReplyDeleteoooh lovely images. I have a couple of vintage mirrors on the wall in my studio. Great for reflecting light. I want more now!! xx
ReplyDeleteI think I live in Mirror land. London is full of large mirrors. I guess it is a wonderful necessity since it makes the slim houses feel larger.
ReplyDeleteStay warm:)
A gorgeous mirror can totally perk up a room!
ReplyDeleteMirrors are a fabulous way to bring light into a room or make it look larger... These images are lovely!

I love mirrors for decorating. I think they open a room up and draw the eye to different vistas. I love the reflection and I particularly love crazed mirrors with their worn patina and crackled appearance. LOVE them!! Leahxx
ReplyDeleteI think my ocd side would constantly be wiping those mirrors until every smudge was erased. :) They are pretty....

Great post! I love all of these ideas and will be using them as inspiration, I have a wall that I'm keen to turn into a bit of a mirror wall. I really love the third pic. Hope you are having a lovely day! xo
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos! I have a mirror "thang" too and like to use them to make a room look lighter and larger.
